June 18

LTME postDear Lucas,

So today about four years ago, this crazy thing happened… Our relationship (lol). To this day I still can’t believe how it all happened. It all happened so quick. We literally were strangers, who never met one minute and the next minute we were attached to the hip. We were completely inseparable never wanting to spend a single second without each other. Soon enough, we got annoyed with each other and problems started occurring. Just like how we met, way too fast, our relationship soon ended fast too. I know you don’t agree with me but I feel like time just flew by. We made so many mistakes. If I could take all of mine back right now, I would. I don’t regret a single thing between us. But all of that is in the past so let’s not dread on it. Today isn’t about reminiscing. Today, June 18, 2016 is about you finally growing up and graduating. I can’t believe you’re 18 years old. I can’t believe you’re graduating and going to college. I can’t believe I even wrote this to you.
I just wanted to let you know how grateful I really am that you’re still in my life. I know its dumb and you’re probably rolling your eyes but I needed to say this. I am so so thankful for the years we spent together, looking back I wouldn’t have wanted to do it with anyone else. Its not even about the relationship we had its the friendship and the tight bond and connection we shared. I still to this day have never experienced that with anyone else. I’ve tried to find other people to share that with or to do the things we used to do with and its not the same. When I was with Jared, the first time I loved him I said “I love you because you’re not Lucas” and when we broke up he said he knew I didn’t love him because he wasn’t you. And its true. I tried moving on too quickly to someone who was the complete opposite of you just to find that I still only wanted you.
I just wanted to say thank you for treating me so well even when I didn’t treat you the best. Thank you for being humble and gentle with me after knowing everything I’ve been through. Thank you for not pressuring me and waiting until I was ready. Thank you. You’ve grown up into an amazing man and I can’t wait to see your accomplishments. I’m very proud of who we have both become. I’m so grateful that my first love was with you.

I will always love you. Forever and a day. I promise.
